June 7th Regional Autocross
Seventeen Mercedes members braved massive flooding blocking
major highways caused by 10 inches of rain in Johnson County to
attend the annual regional Autocross. Dave Wilson arrived at the
school parking lot in the wee hours of the morning to direct the
hundreds of kids taking the SAT the same morning to an alternate
parking area. We had members from Carmel to Bedford find
alternate routes to the school parking lot without getting
stranded in the flood waters.
Rain
didn't slow this group down, we got the course marked out and
started Defensive Driving in the downpour that lasted most of
the morning. After a hearty lunch from Marsh, Paul Bailey
devised a diabolical autocross course that challenged everyone.
We got a reprieve from the weather and took advantage of a
semi-wet track to polish the skills learned in the morning
session.
